just because

I love these two pictures! I tried getting them into the previous post with no luck. Here's a Tuesday laugh.

These were taken inside the mirror maze. It took a few tries to get both of us mid flight, but we finally got it!

no excuses

Hey there! It's been nearly a month since my last post. That might be a record. Honestly, I have no good excuses for my absence, but I will fill you in on what's been going on here since Halloween.

Mark and I went to the mountains for four days of well earned relaxation. Holly stayed at the house with the fur babies. Even though we missed them, we definitely needed a break from Kingston, work, family and life in general. While we were there, we ate sushi, went to MagicQuest and did the vault, magic missions, the mirror maze and  pirate golf. We also got a little Christmas shopping done at Tanger. By the time we did all that, got a little hot tubbing in, boozed, ate and schmoozed....we were very relaxed..

When we got home, it was back to business as usual. Driving home one afternoon, I spotted this:
Double Rainbow!

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving. Look at my favorite little turkey!

10 things I can't live without

First of all, a shout out to Lauren. I stole this idea from her blog. (HI, Lauren! I read you too!)

Here are 10 things I can't live without... (in no particular order).

1. Lip gloss. Oh, how I love thee. My personal best record for quantity of lip gloss in my purse at one time is fourteen. It's something I'm rather proud of.

2. Popcorn. It's my favorite snack in the world. Mark bought be a hot air popper one year because I kept burning bags in the microwave. You can't burn popcorn in a hot air popper. You can, however, make a huge mess if the bowl is too small.

3. Water. Yeah, that's a pretty basic thing for everyone, but I feel compelled to include it because not only do I love to drink water, I love swimming, long baths and showers and also, I love Macaroni. And you can't have it without water.

4. Animals. I LOVE animals. All varieties, no squirrel left behind. I actually took this one of Roo-Roo. Isn't she sweet?

5. My dear, sweet husband. Sometimes, he's the air in my lungs and others he's what roots me to the earth. I love him....

6. My family. They may be A LOT crazy, but I wouldn't be here without them. They are my people.

7. My friends. Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends.....The ones I have are the very best.

8. Music. The soundtrack of our lives, right?

9. A good series. I've always loved to read, but series are my favorite. Harry Potter, Twilight Saga, and The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, just to name a few.

10. Can there be a two way tie for number 10? Sure, it's my blog, why not. Ironically....it's nature and technology. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. : D

Whazzzz Hapeneeeen'

As I said recently, I would get back to you on what's been going on with me. Well, friends, there's a lot.

First and foremost, we have company. Our company is staying for a while, and really that's all that can be said about that. It's a good thing, it's just taken about a month to get into some sort of routine. Things are pretty good on the home front....or as good as they can be at the moment. : D

Onto things I can discuss openly. The CATS. We are finally getting somewhere with our neighbors and their cat population. After writing several letters and emails, various phone calls and complaints, the police finally came and did a welfare check. They are supposed to be setting traps for the feral ones and our neighbors were given 30 days to clean their property up. (Seriously, it's like hoarders over there.) Hopefully, the smell will subside and I'll stop sneezing.

Beth is doing so much better! Since I last updated on the crash at the shop, she graduated from the walker to a cane and is now able to hobble around a little without it. It's so good to see her mobile again! She and I have made several "trips" to the store and to other places just to get her out of the house and I really think it's been great for her. I don't get to see Amy, Retha or Dee too often, but talking with them via facebook and texting, I get the feeling each of them is on the mend- which makes my heart sing.

Photos. Ha. This is pretty funny. I haven't posted a photo in about a month, but I have gotten serious about photography. (ironic, no?) Holly has an AWESOME Canon Rebel she's letting me use and Beth bought me a digital photography book set and I read the first one in about two days. I've been practicing, even getting up before sunrise one day to try and capture some wildlife.  My camera battery died after about 7 shots, but I did get one sort of good picture, so I'm happy with that. I'm a rookie, though. I won't make the same mistake with forgetting to charge the battery again before a sunrise shoot! Hopefully I can put a few pictures up soon so we can all map my progress. -That's what you're here for right?  : D

Family affairs....My grandfather went into the hospital about a week ago. He's now home and on the mend, but I'm still awfully worried about him. He and I are supposed to go visit his birthplace next week, so I'm excited for that. It will also mark another thing off of my 100things list! My grandmother is losing her mind. Don't laugh. I mean that literally. She's forgetting things and our family is taking steps to make sure they are checked in on- by one of us- daily. The way I see it: 87 years is a lot to remember.....so sometimes it's hard to remember you're baking brownies or cheese toast. Mark's dad is doing better. Hopefully he will be able to return to work on light duty soon. Rotator Cuff surgery is not for the faint hearted, that's all I'll say. I am glad he's doing better. Mark I went 2 weeks ago and cleaned out the garage for them. We are hoping to store our boat there this winter. Fingers crossed that it fits.

Mark is the busiest man alive. If you are his friend and haven't seen him, don't feel hurt. He's working some MAD hours at work, supporting me and our company, and trying hard to take care of his parents and everyone else. He has the biggest heart of anyone I know. I'm incredibly proud of him, and to be his wife. Just to get to share in some of his good doings makes my heart swell with pride. He's my world.

Animals. About a week ago, another set of our neighbors had some issues with their dog. I hopped the fence trying to get a closer look and fearing I would get bit, I had to hop back over. I managed to track down the man of the house at his job (it's a long story) and he was able to get home to her. Two days later, he and his wife came by to thank me for "going out of my way" and tracking them down. The dog was very old and had to be put down. It broke my heart, but I am glad I was able to find him so she didn't suffer all day long. That was a tough afternoon. ...........Our animals are driving me bonkers. Magoo has an itch. One he scratches all night looooooooooooong. I'm going to start him on some Benadryl, like the vet suggested and see if that helps. Bruiser has taken up residence in our bed. I'm not sure if she's sensing tension with everything Mark and I have been dealing with, but she's always been a bit of a mother hen when any one's sick and now she's trying to sleep between Mark and I - just to make sure we're OK and still breathing, I guess. : D   Saber is getting older and I am starting to worry about her health more. She sleeps a lot and can most often be found under my feet (sleeping) or downstairs on her bed (sleeping) or laying out on the porch in the sun...(you get the idea). She seems happy enough though.

Work status. Currently, I am not working. It's a luxury few can afford in these hard economic times, yet somehow I am still not doing it. Just before the wreck happened at the shop, Mark told me I could quit working. I was also working part time at the Movie and Suntan Station. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but when the wreck happened, I didn't have much choice. I had no place left to massage, and I wanted to help take care of my friends. Decision made, I guess. I HAVE been thinking about what I want to do, and I am (again) thinking about going back to school. I like massage, but people are karma vampires. They can literally suck the happiness out of you. I am very seriously thinking about getting in to the animal field, I'm just not sure yet what I want to do within it. It remains to be seen, I guess.

Aside from all that, I've just been working on me, really. I am sleeping better, but not like normal. I still worry over petty things constantly and I want to make some changes in my life....I'm just not sure where to start. I've been trying to let God lead me, but it's not always easy. As long as I keep trying, I guess that's all that matters, right? I'm thinking yes. So, I'm picking up my running shoes (again) and my camera (as usual) and I'm heading out into the world. I might not always have a smile on, but I am always working towards one.

Happiest of days to you, friends.

what would YOU do?

Hypothetically, of course....

What would you do if someone told you you could quit working? Like, yeah, you don't HAVE to work anymore. I realize this doesn't really work for those of you who might be stay at home moms, or a mom who works outside of the home as well as being a momma too... but, let's say you are childless. Or, lets say you are single. what would you DO?

There are 24 hours in a day and lets say you sleep 8 of those.. you have 16 hours left with which you can do whatever it is you like. What would you do? The possibilities are kind of endless.

Yeah. I'm sort of speechless too. I don't know! When posed with this question there were a lot of things that came to mind. Honestly, there were a lot of what ifs, in there too. School was a thought. Along with hacking away at my list of 100 things. Having kids came to mind.

Sound off.

What would YOU do/?

heather, lately

Well, we made it through the 30 day Shred. I'll be honest. We didn't work out everyday... and I think Jillian took it out on us when we didn't. However, that said, we both look better. My clothes are a little too big right now. I need two new belts and I am actually exciting about the prospect of bathing suit season. Couple that with the possibility of us buying a boat, and I'd say we are pretty happy campers.

I'm not sure if I can continue on with Jillian exclusively, though. I like challenges and tend to get a little bored. Wednesday night, we went and played softball as part of our workout. It was awesome, but man, my shoulder was sore the next day. I think trying new things will help us find our niche.

It feel like it's been forever since I posted anything of real substance, so, while I'm on that kick, what about Grey's Anatomy? I'm thinking this new chick who's in love with Derek is going to become something from fatal attraction. Just a thought. Also, I miss Lexie and McSteamy.

I watched several good movies recently- The Young Victoria was AMAZING, and Law Abiding Citizen was good too, but a bit graphic in the beginning.

On the remodeling front, we finally got moved downstairs. I absolutely love my new bedroom. It's so much roomier, and I am having a blast adding to the decor down there. As a matter of fact, most of the things I got to decorate came from yard sales, which has become a near every weekend occurrence for Mark and I. Today we found a beefeater's lemonade jar (for the kitchen, obviously) and he got some great, brand new broiler pans.

I rode with Bill the other night up to Maryville College to see Kyle at the leadership awards ceremony. I'm so proud of him! He was elected most Outstanding Junior in his class. Of, like, the whole college. No small feat!

In sad news, I lost my cousin, Pat, to Picks disease this week. It was a long terrible battle, but I am happy she isn't suffering anymore. Our family is having her memorial service next weekend, on account for people coming from out of town (and country) to be here for it. She will be surely missed, but our loss is certainly heaven's gain.

To end on a higher note, softball season has started here in Kingston, and the fields are bursting with children. Mark's cousin Taylor is playing and we were able to catch her first scrimmage. Hoo, boy, she's got an arm! We're so proud of her, and I can't wait to see her in action again soon. It brought back so many fond memories of myself playing on that same field, in days that were a lot less encumbered by life's hurdles.

Ah.... to be young and free again.
