30 day shred

We moved to hell started the 30 day shred today. It hurts to type, and Mark's having a hard time lifting his arms to wash his hair. I'd say we were successful in choosing something to kill us get us into shape.

We took before shots. I couldn't lift my arms to take afters. Just imagine me lying on the ground, red faced and moaning in agony and imagine Mark with arms made from spaghetti and you'll have the picture.

It took us 30 minutes to (sort of) recover from our workout.

Can't wait 'till tomorrow! Here are our before shots:

Glamourous, aren't they?

bootcamp

Mark and I never did find a gym we liked, but we decided we can't really put off working out any longer. Today we start the 30 Day Shred with that bitch Jillian. Stay tuned for more swearing at her.

my kind of night

Me on the couch, him on the loveseat. 2 glasses of red, a fudgepop and a creampop. Dogs curled up snoozing and reruns of Weeds. Good stuff, man.

And I'm not even joking.

The diet

It hasn't been hell, like I thought it would. I would like anyone who cares to know, that there is a Milky Way in my fridge. The said Milky Way has been there for over an eternity  2 weeks. Talk about will power!

Mark and I embarked on the South Beach Diet two weeks ago, and I am proud to announce that our combined weight loss totals 24 pounds. In two weeks. Saying I'm proud of us hardly covers it. I think Mark is only on the diet because I am, and that is terrific moral support, though he said he wanted to lose weight as well. Phase 1 of the diet is a lot like Atkins. You eat lean meats, lots of veggies and no carbs. You do this for two weeks and then move on to phase 2, which is where we are now. You carbs are still extremely limited, but you can have a few treats like fat-free, sugar-free pudding (which sounds gross, but is actually really good) and popcorn (hoorah!) and a few fruits. We have entered phase 2 and will stay in that phase until we reach our goal weight. Mark is close to his, but I still have a way to go. When you reach your goal weight you enter phase 3, which is where you stay until you get fat again  forever.

I am also going to start at a gym....(in keeping my with my resolution) I think this will help me stay motivated on my diet and besides that, I really miss running. So for now, I am 11 pounds lighter with a goal in front of me. Wish me luck, and feel free to stop by and keep my ass in check with the exercising.

Master of the chicken

Ok, so this is good. And I totally made it up. Ok, that's a lie. However, I DID tweak a recipe I already had to make this fantastic dish: Garlic-Lemon Chicken with veggies

You will need:

Olive Oil
1 medium sized squash, sliced
1 medium sized zucchini, sliced
1/2 red pepper, sliced
3 chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
salt and pepper
cilantro- fresh or from your spice cabinet
3 cloves of garlic, pressed
lemon juice

throw some olive oil in the pan, heat on high. salt and pepper your chicken to taste and toss in. Cook until its halfway done, then add veggies, cilantro, garlic- drizzle with lemon juice. Sautee together until chicken is cooked all the way through and veggies are soft, but still have snap.

Serve with a spinach salad. ( This is a very low carb meal, and takes about 20 minutes to make)

Perfection. I wish I had a picture, but we were starving, so um... none left.

Hiatus

I didn't leave you, but I have been working on my 100 things list this past month. It's kept me busy.

We have started remodeling our downstairs bath. Mark has done the most work, but I have helped enough to say that I HAVE HELPED. I've done drywall, which included a fit where I broke down because I had to do math for the first time in I don't know how long, and sawing, plumbing painting, sanding, mudding, removal of old ass UGLY  festive border, I pulled an old shower out, helped build and out in a new base for the new one.

Like I said, I've been busy. Remodeling my bathroom was on my list because I suck at carpentry and anything else that involves math. I tend to really freak out when I am asked to solve for anything. I remember in third grade- Mrs. Smith asked me to come to the board and fill out times tables. I very nearly freaked out and wet my pants. I was paralyzed by my fear of numbers. Mark asking me to measure the drywall and asking me to cut a strip of it for the sealing nearly sent me into orbit, which is basically the same for an adult as peeing yourself in a third grade classroom would be for a child. (Just to be clear here, I didn't actually pee myself in the third grade. At least not in class.) Anyway, after two attemptes, I finally got it and I am so proud of myself. You'd think I won a prize for Mathematics or something, but no, just a little carpentry by yours truly.

The bathroom isn't completely finished yet, so, I will bold it up in the 100 things column when it is. Stay tuned for pictures!
